Back Story Artists Engagements Media Contact

“When I paint it’s like I am the director of my own film. I ride along the rooftops of Paris with my eyes, playing in the clouds, capturing the unheard music in the movements of paint.”

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Linda McCluskey spent her childhood in Lowell. She attended the University of Maine at Orono to study English and Literature. After falling in love with oil paint, she decided to change her major to Fine Art and studied with acclaimed Painters Barbara Cushing and Michael H. Lewis. She went on to study in France with Watercolorist Frank Webb.

Once back in the US, she studied under Beth Patterson, then returned full-time to UMass-Lowell where she studied with Painters Brenda Pinardi and Fred Faudie.

In 2002, Linda's artistic journey changed her life in a way most artists only dream of. She entered a study-abroad program in Paris at Wells College where she learned the painting techniques of the old masters under Painter Betsy Dumas and worked as a copyist at the Louvre. She studied at the Atelier d'Etampes with Painters Philippe Lejeune and Christoff Debusschere. As her time in France was coming to an end, Linda decided to live in Paris permanently.

She moved to a top floor studio with a view of the city. At first, she painted the traditional Parisian scenes she could view from her rooftop window. She worked on capturing light and shadows in a new way. Soon the traditional painting style began to fade. She started playing with unique perspectives and her signature paintings of twisting streets and rooftops of Paris were born. Inspired by Photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, Linda captures moments in time with exquisite movement, taking the viewer along the streets and over the rooftops on a magical journey.

Linda lives in Montmarte, Paris, France.
